SDG 5 : GENDER EQUALITY




        Gender equality is when people of all genders have equal rights, responsibilities and opportunities. Everyone is affected by gender inequality including women, men, children and families. It impacts people of all ages and backgrounds. According to the United Nations, gender equality is not only a fundamental human right but also the basis for a society that is peaceful, wealthy, and sustainable. There is no sustainable development without gender equality which means it is really crucial for us to have gender equality in education, employment and so no one is left behind. 

        





        Greater societal issues including illiteracy, legal restrictions, occupational segregation, and inadequate health care can all be linked to gender inequality. According to research conducted in Malaysia in 2020, there are five variables that contribute to gender disparity among women in the workplace: childcare and household poverty, government policies, labour force participation, discrimination in dress codes, and lack of technical and managerial skills.





        
         It gives me pleasure to discuss this subject from an Islamic viewpoint. Islam places a high value on a woman's status and dignity. In many areas, Islam equalises men and women. The Qur'an frequently includes mentions to both men and women in one verse, demonstrating that Islam does not discriminate against women. In actuality, the only distinction between men and women is piety. 

    O humanity! Indeed, We created you from a male and a female, and made you into peoples and tribes so that you may ˹get to˺ know one another. Surely the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous among you. Allah is truly All-Knowing, All-Aware. [ Surah Al-Hujurat: 13]
        
      Unfortunately, although Islam recognizes the position and rights of women, on the other hand, some parties discriminate against women using religious reasons. Whereas in reality, it is just a custom and practice that is not based on religion.


    Overall, for mankind to survive, men and women are essential. Therefore, inequality won't lead anywhere. We must abandon outdated customs and mentalities in order to successfully complete the gender inequality. Everyone needs to learn about respect and equality, even though it takes a lot of work, it is possible. We can cooperate to provide both genders with the same respect and chances.

In order for water to be appropriate for human consumption, it must be clean and free of diseases and bacteria.
